Jo Dennis Solo Exhibition - Part of Peckham 24
The title of the show references the subject matter and the process in which the work is made, Cropped Up: to be revealed and to cut or reframe images. Using photography and found objects taken from abandoned buildings Dennis abstracts and re-purposes the imagery she collects. She fetishises the aesthetics of decay whilst creating images which are embedded with memory and depict the layering of time. On display will be a selection of work by Jo Dennis taken from a series made over the past three years.
“New ruins are for a time stark and bare, vegetation less and creature-less; blackened and torn, they smell of fire and mortality - Often the ruin has put on, in its catastrophic tipsy chaos, a bizarre new charm”
Rose Macaulay, Pleasure in Ruins
