In the lower ground floor gallery this week is a fantastic show by a group of design students from the University of Brighton. For a last minute addition to our calendar their show has been professionally put together in a very short space of time.
‘Formed’ features a broad selection of handcrafted domestic and sculptural objects. The reclaimed scaffolding boards that have been used to create economical display tables and the subdued lighting are good curatorial decisions that add to the quiet and humble nature of the works on display.
FORMED
Tuesday 24 – Saturday 28 May 2011
Private view Wednesday 25 May, 6.00 – 8.30pm
SLAM Last Friday 27 May until 8.00pm
Caroline Allen, Craig Barrow, Josh Bitelli, Gina Ellis, Jessie Fleck, Vanessa Freeman, Robert Grimshaw, Grace Hancock, Sarah Hibbert, Steph Iles, Lucy MacDonald, Bryony Penman and Bridget Wheeler.
For the first time the Menier Gallery's lower ground floor is being used as a separate, more affordable exhibition space. If you are interested in hiring the Menier Gallery for an exhibition or event do not hesitate to get in touch. All money raised from the hire of the gallery supports the charity Paintings in Hospitals.
