‘Each gesture is an event — one might even say a drama — in itself.’ Walter Benjamin

An exciting and engaging new exhibition curated by Jeremy Millar is to be held at the Siobhan Davies Dance Studios this month. Notes on Gesture is both a collaboration of different artists as well as different modes of art forms, which shall include performance, film, photography and spoken word. Its aim is to consider the status of a gesture, as something either made or performed. Works from artists within this exhibition include Paul Elliman, Heather Phillipson, Rebecca Warren and William Anastasi, among others.

Newport Street Gallery: John Hoyland:
The much-anticipated Newport Street Gallery opened in October last year, presenting exhibitions of work from Damien Hirst's art collection.

The first exhibition entitled Power Stations Paintings features the work of British abstract painter, the late John Hoyland.

The exhibition presents a selection of Hoyland’s large-scale works dating from 1964 to 1982, displayed throughout all six of the gallery’s exhibition spaces.

The first major survey of the artist to be presented since 2006, ‘Power Stations’ spans a pivotal period in Hoyland’s career, punctuated by his first solo museum show, at the Whitechapel Gallery in 1967, and his defining retrospective at the Serpentine Gallery (1979–80).
